Displacers in Dungeon Siege are teleporting platforms that facilitate fast travel between distant regions. As the map was designed for multiplayer, the Utraean Peninsula has an entire system of Displacer pads linking the realm's main towns to streamline cooperation between clients.
There are also Displacers on the Island of the Utraeans which are storyline-related and do not form a network. There are no displacer pads in The Kingdom of Ehb.
Helios Utrae Basilicus[]
The eight towns of the Peninsula each have a level-restricted Displacer pad connecting to the Helios Utrae Basilicus, or H.U.B. The level requirements on the Displacers' activation buttons are the same as the requirements for joining the game in that town. The system allows high-level players to ferry allies to a high-level town, if desired.
| Town | Normal | Veteran | Elite |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elddim | 0 | 54 | 83 |
| Crystwind | 5 | 56 | 87 |
| Fallraen | 9 | 59 | 90 |
| Meren | 18 | 64 | 96 |
| Lang | 25 | 68 | 99 |
| Quillrabe | 42 | 77 | 103 |
| Hiroth | 46 | 79 | 105 |
| Grescal | 50 | 80 | 106 |
In appearance, the HUB platforms are round with an elegant black-marbled surface undamaged by time. They are set within a rather more weather-beaten, star-shaped stone base and colonnade. The structures are said to be a legacy of the vanished ancient Utraeans and associated with the mysterious Utraean Circle found in Hiroth. Only those Marked with Fire (which is to say, the players, with their limited immortality) are able to travel to the Basilicus. One of the rumors flying around during their quest is that the HUB could become publicly accessible and trigger a golden age of unity and commerce.
Legion Displacers[]
he 10th Legion imperfectly copied the design and technology of the Helios Utrae Basilicus to create a fast, squared, and relatively unsafe system of Displacers, calibrated from a forward location, and transportable to the corresponding Displacer tower back near town.
The peninsula's Legion displacers do not link to a central hub, but neither are they level-restricted. They have to be activated from the wilderness location, and this calibration by the player is lost when a new game session is started. The pads are meant to function as a "town portal" for the player to use to pawn and restock on items in town.
Quillrabe and Grescal do not have Legion towers, and as such do not have linked displacers.
- Elddim
The tower is located in Iliarth Valley, just down the ramp from the HUB platform.
- The platform with corner-to-corner lines is linked to Iliarth Divide, just outside the Ancient Crypt.
- The platform with side-to-side lines is linked to Elddim Glade, just outside the south entrance to Hovart's Folly.
- Crystwind
The tower is located in Crystwind Grasslands, behind the ancient ruins to the west.
- The sole platform, marked with lightning bolts, is linked to the Crystwind Old Mines, between the northern Miner's Haven entrance and the rock blockage that necessitates use of Miner's Haven. Acid Glyph users can bypass the block with little issue, however.
- Fallraen
The tower is located in Fallraen Forest, just outside the gate on the path to Meren.
- The platform with corner-to-corner lines is linked to Mount Utrae Forest, just outside the entrance to Mount Utrae Temple.
- The platform with side-to-side lines is linked to somewhere in the middle of the Crystal Caverns, where a green atmosphere predominates.
- Meren
The tower is located in Meren Coast, just up the lift outside town on the path to Lang.
- The sole platform, marked with lightning bolts, is linked to the craggy area within the Cloud Forest close to where the Meren Stone can be found.
- Lang
The tower is located within town limits, on an island situated between the town and the entrance to the Goblin Outer Warrens.
- The platform marked with corner-to-corner lines is linked to the craggy rocky area within the Goblin Warrens where Gobbot Grenadiers can be found.
- The platform marked with lightning bolts is linked to Redwood Gap, a short distance from the entrance to the Fury Den.
- Hiroth
The tower is located on a rainy plateau, just outside the territory besieged by skeletons.
- The sole platform is marked with side-to-side lines, and is linked to Mesa Desert, just outside the entrance to the Drake Nest.
Island of the Utraeans Displacers[]
Island of the Utraeans's displacers are integrated as part of the storyline of the party chasing the Shadowjumper across the Isle, and as such, many of them advance the hero to a yet-unvisited location. Others go backwards to merchants. Unlike the previous two systems, the player's activation of these pads is saved into the character file.
In the game's lore, the Isle's main hub is a ground-based displacer center, located within the ancient city of Jherkal's Crown. This system's displacer platforms are square, greenish-brown in color, and have a compass symbol in the middle.
Sources found in-game say that there are at least 72 HUB locations connecting the Utraean domain, though most of these were evidently destroyed, and the Hero of Arhok only encountered but a fraction of them. Some of the pads require the same "forward calibration" as the legion displacers, sending the party back to a merchant, but others send the party forwards. For the purposes of organization, the functionally available one is listed first.
