Gobbot Grenadier
Gobbot Shocker
Gobbot Gunner
Copter
Hunter
Kill Bot
Proxo

There are no friendly NPCs in this region, and it is populated entirely by goblins and their contraptions. Goblin fights are profoundly more difficult in the vanilla version of Dungeon Siege. Be especially wary of area-of-effect blasts generated by flamethrowers, grenades, and the self-detonating Proxo, which can drop the whole party on the Hard setting. But when LoA is running, many of the Goblins no longer have correct skills for the revised combat formulae and, apart from the melee fighters, will present very little threat.

Description[]

Farmgirl, joined by a principally-interested Merik and the rest of her band, attacked the goblins beneath the Eastern Swamp in order to recover the Warding Staff. The goblins had hollowed out and massively developed an old subterranean dungeon, whose former architecture is evidenced by various excavation sites around the edges of the complex; then, a month or so prior to the Ehb campaign, the Goblin Inventor stole the Warding Staff and was harnessing its magic to fuel their expansion efforts.

The Inventor's lair on Ehb is noticeably more built-up than the Peninsula's Goblin Warrens, perhaps owing to the presence of the Inventor himself.

Disambiguation[]

This unnamed region is only called "Goblin Inventor" in the internal files, after its chief occupant, which is also the name given to the Goblins' industrial-themed tileset. A properly-named analogue to the region, the race's home on the Utraean Peninsula, is the Goblin Warrens. "Goblin Lair" was chosen after considering the narrator's blurb in the non-interactive sequence following the battle with the Inventor.

Peninsula Ehb
Goblin Warrens "Goblin Lair"
Redwood Gap "Temple Ruins"
Pit of Despair
Fury Den "Fury Den (Ehb)"

Features[]

  • There are several dig sites in the region with treasure chests. The sites are concealed by very dark entrances.
  • Watch for massive defenses around lift platforms. They know.
  • Some leaky pipes generate minor environmental hazards, but can be sealed by turning nearby wheel cranks.
  • There is a "swivel bridge" in the center of the region. While it cannot be operated by someone standing on the bridge, with two or more party members it is possible to make a shortcut.
  • A battle with the Goblin Inventor himself, with ownership of the staff on the line, takes place in the final room of the complex. The Peninsula Warrens lack a similar climax.
