Hovart Marsh is a region on the Utraean Peninsula, the multiplayer world in Dungeon Siege.

Overview[]

This region slopes unsteadily upward from the Ancient Crypt (southeast corner) to Hovart's Folly (northwest corner). After collecting the Elddim Townstone and the Gavel of Convening from the crypt, young Peninsula adventurers gained some marks by battling their way through a Krug army in Hovart Marsh to reach Lord Hovart's domain.

In appearance the Hovart Marsh is uneven, parched, and heavily-eroded grassland. The bad conditions are said to be on account of the construction and ongoing existence of Lord Hovart's huge underground dungeon.

Inhabitants[]

The dominant force in the region is a tribe of Krug. The Krug Grunt miniboss Futak the Trainer, onetime pillager of Stonebridge, is found here among his grunts. In ascending order of strength:

Hovart Marsh is a dingy, scrubby area that is directly to the east of Iliarth Divide. One must travel through the haunted Ancient Crypt to reach it, and it can be traversed to enter the southeastern quadrant of Hovart's Folly. Notable landmarks include the Crypt entrance, a natural bridge, the chicken farmer/merchant Horty Olof, the lake where Futak the Trainer has escaped to, and the entrance to Hovart's Folly.

One can go either of two ways once he/she enters the "Marsh", both clogged with Krug and Killer Gremals. One way leads through a canyon, and the other goes over the aforementioned natural bridge (which goes over the canyon.) Shortly before the canyon, Horty Olof's cabin and chickens can be found atop a mesa. Past the canyon, a lake is present shortly before Hovart's Folly. From here is Hovart's Folly - South.

Features characteristic of the Hovart Marsh are killer gremals and an eerie, peach-colored sky found nowhere else in the Utraean Peninsula.

Trivia[]

  • There are exactly 99 Krug Grunts in this region. Futak the Trainer completes the tale.
