Isteru is a legendary Elven wizard of antiquity. He was the brother of the warrior Istaura. Together they "brought their people out of the Age of Darkness" and led them to prosperity.
Biography[]
The exact time of Istaura's birth and life is not known to either Isteru, but it was certainly before the First Cataclysm, as the Elven Prism created by Isteru served to protect against the effects of this cataclysm. The power of these heroes was truly great: they raised mountains and planted entire forests in order to create a place in which their people could safely exist[1].
Most of the available sources describe Isteru as a sage and powerful sorcerer. Perhaps he was one of those who revealed the wonders of magic to the elves and showed how to use the energy of a magical source, near the sacred waters of which Aman'lu was formed over time.
Along with other elders, he also trained young and magical elves. One of them was Arinth, whose magic power was unbelievable even by Isteru's standards. But, unfortunately, in a short time she also ruined the young elf: Arinth lost his mind from his own power and became dangerous for the world around him. Together with his sister and other great elves, Isteru was able to defeat him, and destroy the dangerous artifacts he created. Except for one: Staff of Arinth had such great power that it had to be taken apart and hidden in secrets scattered around the world[2].
Concerned about the future safety of his people, Isteru created the magical Elven Prism, which was his last creation[3]. The prism powered a magical shield located above the lands of the elves, and over the years played a vital role in protecting against the effects of the Great Cataclysm.
Notes[]
- One of the caves in Cliffs of Azunai is named after Isteru. Whether or not it is his final resting place is unknown, but there is a stash containing the Part of the Staff of Arinth.
- Isteru's name also bears his unique staff - Isteru's Wisdom.
