Kings and Queens of the Northern Reaches
This Book is a Record of the Names of all the Kings and Queens of the Northern Reaches that Reigned during the Past Thousand Years. It also Lists the Current Order of Succession for the Throne. Skimming through the book, you see on Name that you Recognize—Eva—Listed at the End of the Book, as the First In Line for the Throne after her Mother dies or relinquishes it. Her Date of Birth is Listed, as is her Patron God (Xeria, of course). You learn many useful Facts about the Governmental Structure of the Northern Reaches, and are reading about the Girl who will grow up to become Eva's Minister of War, when your Eye is caught by another Name on the facing Page.
Listed there are the Members of another Line of the Royal Family, the Eldest Son of which is Traditionally the Minister of Arms and Armaments. The Last Name Listed is 'Valdis, Son of Utor.' Little is said about him, other than that he suffered a debilitating Fever as a young man, but that he is still considered hardy enough to remain next in Line for the Post. The Last Entry in the Book appears to Date back a number of Years, so there is no way of knowing whether Valdis Listed is the same man as he who leads the Morden armies.
