A Life Shrine is a type of landmark found scattered throughout the Dungeon Siege campaigns that provides healing to good-aligned beings.
Description[]
A Life Shrine is a small sandstone henge that will radiate a red aura of power when someone walks onto the center slab. Like other shrines, they can revive multiplayer characters who enter them as ghosts. Life Shrines are found in Ehb, the Utraean Peninsula, and on the Island of the Utraeans, although there's only one of them on the Island. The uniformity of the Shrines' appearance and function— and the present-day ubiquity of Potion brewing instead— suggests that the life shrines are a lost art from one of Aranna's prehistoric civilizations.
Each Life Shrine has three attributes: a total life pool, a healing rate at which it disburses this pool to characters standing in the shrine, and a replenishment rate at which the shrine reaccumulates its power while nobody is standing in it. The healing rate is generally very fast, while the replenishment rate is glacial to the point that it could take an hour or more to recharge, and that's assuming the player remains close enough to the shrine for it to remain in memory and keep running its routines.
These limitations, in combination with the packs of enemies that tend to congregate around Life Shrines for some reason, curb their tactical value rather severely. Most of them are essentially hot battle zones that you will have a chance to recover from to some degree, rather than being a place to limp to when wounded.
