The pyramids are ancient magical landmarks on the Peninsula. They are difficult to reach and stitch several disparate regions together: the Endless Dunes, the Eastern Island, and the Volcanic Caverns.
Description[]
Located far to the southwest of Grescal in the Endless Dunes, the Lost Pyramids are some of the strangest structures in the Peninsula. Their creators unknown (perhaps Utraean colonists, though highly unlikely), both sandstone pyramids each bear an elevated entrance, flanked by two stone cats, and straight passageways decorated with strange hieroglyphics. There are two pyramids, called the Pyramid of the Spirits and the Pyramid of the Dead. They are surrounded by palm trees (a testament to the water found within the Pyramid of the Spirits). Despite this, the sunburnt corpse of a desert traveler can be found inside a tent near a mana shrine between the two pyramids.
The Pyramid of the Spirits is likely the first one to be encountered if one travels from Grescal. Within this pyramid is a long black stone tunnel, with many rises and drops in altitude, even filling with water at some point. There is a treasure chest in the middle of the tunnel, containing much gold and some random high-level items. This tunnel links the mainland directly to the Eastern Island, where one emerges from a temple-like entrance.
The Pyramid of the Dead posesses a shorter tunnel that only goes down, but it ends in a chamber that holds some treasure chests and the second elevator to the Volcanic Caverns, the best leveling opportunity in the Utraean Peninsula.
Getting there[]
Since the Spirits pyramid connects to the Eastern Island, the most "landmarked" way to reach the Pyramids is to travel to Loola's Tower via the Great Northern Forest from Elddim, taking Laughing Loola's Lift to the Eastern Island, and spelunking the Spirits tunnel to emerge in the desert.
The route from Grescal is more direct but requires some careful orienteering. A short distance west-northwest of the town is the elbow of the Mesa Desert cliff wall. The Pyramids are a very long distance directly south of this bend in the cliff wall.
