Mysterious Creature, sometimes also called Loot Thief, or ??? is a unique enemy in the game Dungeon Siege II and the expansion Broken World.
Description[]
The name speaks for itself. It is not clear where the small humanoid creature came from, which appears on the battlefield whenever the player finds any magic items (from the game files, the chance of summoning is ~0.05% on each drop; however, it increases when the hero receives rare, unique or set items).
Once this happens, the creature will start running towards the valuables, trying to steal them.
- Attention! Items stolen from the ground cannot be returned in any way!
- If there are no items left on the ground, it will run to the nearest character and steal a random item from their inventory! However, it can be returned if you hit the thief.
The creature can be attacked, scaring it away from treasure and causing it to drop a random rare item on impact. Usually after 4-6 hits (or after ~10-15 seconds) the creature disappears, and just as suddenly as it appeared.
The main feature of the thief is that when he dies, a Mysterious Stone drops out, which is necessary to enter the secret location - Mysterious Cave.
How to Summon[]
Since the chance of appearance depends on the rarity of the item found, it is necessary to increase the "Chance to find magic items" parameter. It is better to wear items with this quality on one character, since the game selects the highest indicators from the entire group.
The very quantity of items and their quality is also affected by enemy rank: you can kill a couple of hundred ordinary enemies, or several dozen elite ones and never meet a thief, or you can kill two or three bosses, after of which there will be many rare things that will provoke the appearance of the creature.
He can also be found quite often after killing Mimic.
Tactics[]
The creature cannot be permanently destroyed, since at the moment of death it disappears with the help of a smoke screen and can reappear after the loss of new treasures, but not earlier than after 300 seconds.
- Keep powerful single-target attack forces charged.
- Attack the creature only with those heroes who have a powerful single attack or a high chance of a critical hit.
- Powers such as (Taunt or Gravity Stone) do not affect the creature!
