The Grand Chapterhouse is a story quest in Dungeon Siege III, where you are tasked with reclaiming the long-abandoned Grand Chapterhouse in Stonebridge, the former headquarters of the Legion, to restore the Legion's presence in the city.
Walkthrough[]
Reopen the Chapterhouse[]
You’ll receive this quest when you enter Stonebridge and discover the Grand Chapterhouse in the southwestern part of the city. Upon entering, you'll find that the chapterhouse has been abandoned for thirty years, with debris and bodies scattered about. On Level 2 (#3), you'll be attacked by Eternal Guardians. These guardians won't give you any XP for defeating them and will rise again after a few seconds, so it's best to avoid fighting them.
To progress, you must examine a scroll on Level 2 (#3) that reveals the chapterhouse is protected by four books. To reopen the chapterhouse and disable the guardians, you'll need to find and collect these four books.
Find the Book of Vigilant Defense[]
The first book, **Book of Vigilant Defense**, is in a locked room (#5). To enter, you’ll need to pull a lever (#4). Once inside, grab the book to stop the nearby flame traps and guardians from attacking. You'll also receive the lore entry for *Pillars of the Legion: Book 1*. This will also open the door to the other books.
Find the Book of Allegiance[]
Next, you need to find the **Book of Allegiance**, which is in another locked room (#8). To access this room, pull another lever (#6). Picking up the book will stop the nearby guardians and give you the lore entry for *Pillars of the Legion: Book 3*. To disable the guardians and flame traps in the central room (#6) and open the door to the next book, you must also collect the **Book of Fair Judgment** (#7).
Find the Book of Fair Judgment[]
The **Book of Fair Judgment** is located in another locked room (#7), and you can access it by pulling lever (#6). Grabbing this book will stop the guardians and give you the lore entry for *Pillars of the Legion: Book 2*. This will also disable the traps in the central room (#6), allowing you to open the final door.
Find the Book of Reconciliation[]
The final book, **Book of Reconciliation**, is located in a room (#9) that doesn’t require any levers to be pulled. Simply pick it up to disable the nearby guardians and traps. You’ll also receive the lore entry for *Pillars of the Legion: Book 4*. When you pick up this book, the door to Level 1 will open, allowing you to proceed.
Restore the Books to Their Shelf[]
Once you’ve collected all four books, head to Level 1 of the chapterhouse. You’ll find a bookshelf (#1). Place the books in the bookshelf to open the inner sanctum (#12) and reveal a Causeway (W). This will trigger a conversation with Odo and Marten, and Odo will assign you two quests: *Majority Rules* (to recruit the Meisters) and *The Tumbledown Court* (to protect the queen). Completing the conversation with Odo will finish this quest and reward you with 2563 XP.
