Content[]
St. Hiram of Kettelberg lived in the early years of our kingdom. He was a portly fellow, renowned for his miracles, which had a distinctly culinary flair.
In the latter years of his life, the Synod called upon Hiram to perform an especially sensitive mission. A community of Azunites had fallen victim to heresy, abandoning the worship of Azunai for a false god. This community was led by an old Agallan giant called Molochi, and the hierarchs believed that Hiram could bring him back into the fold.
So Hiram dutifully left his home and travelled north, to the edge of the Aranoi Desert. He was met there by Molochi, himself. But instead of a cordial welcome, befitting an envoy of the Church, Hiram was clapped in irons and imprisoned in the vault. For half a year, he suffered Molochi’s torments, until finally he died.
Outraged at this treatment of a good and noble man, the Church Synod declared a crusade. The Legion marched north, slew Molochi and his followers, and set a terrible curse upon them, so that their spirits would be trapped in the world, never to return to the River of Souls…
