Travel to Grescal is a secondary quest on the Utraean Peninsula, the multiplayer world in Dungeon Siege.
Description[]
If Utraean High Priest Kavaren in Hiroth is approached with every Townstone secure except for the Grescal Palm Stone, he will issue this quest to the secluded eighth town. The Utraean Society member there is Priestess Kylira.
- "So, you're the one they say is marked with fire. If you're headed to Grescal, why not go through the Utraean's Basilicus? It's rumored that you can travel there overland if you enter the Mausoleum underneath Castle Hiroth. I've heard there's an entrance within one of the castle towers, and the Mausoleum still has the old criminal's exit to the Mesa Desert. If you head east, eventually you'll hit the edge of the Grescal Dunes. Grescal itself is somewhere east of there around the oasis. However, only a fool would try to cross the desert without a guide. Grescal is a hermit's village for a reason, you know."
- ―Default Hiroth NPC directions
- Taking the HUB to Grescal requires level 50.
- There are road marker signs in the desert after Castle Hiroth. They wind around all over the place, but they do eventually land in Grescal.
- A "beeline route" between Hiroth and Grescal is surprisingly short and does not involve many foes; refer to the maps of Castle Hiroth, Hiroth Mausoleum, Mesa Desert, and the Endless Dunes loop.
- There is a hidden route connecting Elddim to Hiroth and Grescal by way of the Lost Pyramids.

Dialogue[]
[]
- "The Utraean Circle is ready to be completed, but you are missing the Grescal Palm Stone. Speak with Utraean Priestess Kylira in Grescal, as she will be able to tell you more about it. I see you are one of the few who carry the Mark of Fire. If you travel to Grescal through the Basilicus, you will have a much better chance of reaching the oasis. No one who travels there overland through the Eastern Desert ever returns."
- "If this drought keeps up, there will not be much here other than dust and blowing sand. That's why we must succeed in assembling the Circle in Hiroth. I have dreamt of a vast reservoir of water hidden beneath the land. I am certain the Utraeans stockpiled it just for times like these. When the Circle is complete, we will finally be able to use it, and the town of Grescal will be saved."
Background[]
- Kavaren & Guard
- "Priestess Kylira probably hasn't seen a new face in years. There haven't been many travellers to Grescal since the oasis receded. The journey there is just too perilous for most, and it's nothing but sand for breakfast, lunch, and dinner once you do arrive."
- Guards
- "I've always wanted to visit the oasis town of Grescal, but I'd never make it through the Endless Dunes without one of their hermits as a guide. It's said the Hiroth Mausoleum underneath the castle exits to the edge of the dunes, and anyone convicted of banditry is left out there to die."
- "The keep is overrun and the dungeons flooded. We knew the peace couldn't last with the queen dead these last five years and not an heir in sight. They say Grescal holds the key, but who can survive the Empty Eastern Desert to bring it back?"
- "Before all hell broke loose here, there was talk of an envoy to the oasis town of Grescal. I wouldn't want to be assigned to that one -- a trip through the Endless Dunes is likely to be, well, endless!"
- Guard, Castle front
- "It's sorry times when Castle Hiroth is unsafe even for Legionnaires. You look suited-up enough to brave the corridors, but don't be expecting it to be as pristine as the days of old."
- (low) "Hiroth is under attack by an undead army, and the wilds outside come closer every day. An adventurer as inexperienced as yourself would be foolish to venture outside the Dusky Rose tavern, let alone beyond the town itself!"
- (high) "Hail, friend! An adventurer as well-traveled as yourself must be downright bored with Hiroth. I'm afraid you won't find much that's more exciting outside, what with your expertise."
- Guard, Mausoleum stairs
- "Take care in the Mausoleum, friend. The vermin down there came upon us from behind and killed my mates as we ran for the door. You do look better prepared than we were though, so perhaps you'll make it through alive."
- (low) "The vermin in the Mausoleum came upon us from behind and killed my mates as we ran for the door! From the look of you, you won't even make it that far. I'm sure you'd fare better exploring the castle before thinking about this place."
- (high) "Wish my mates and I had one as powerful as you with us last time the vermin in the Mausoleum came calling. My comrades paid with their lives, I'm afraid, and I hardly escaped. I'm sure you'll have no problem avenging their deaths if you choose to enter its haunted corridors."
