The Varg is a type of wolf encountered in Legends of Aranna. The other wolves, in ascending order of strength, are:

Description[]
This creature inhabits snowy regions on mainland Aranna, and in particular is seen on the outskirts of the town of Arhok. Vargs are small wolf-relatives, and appear to be solitary hunters of small game. When excited, they emit higher-pitched growls and yips that would embarrass a full-sized wolf.
The aura of the Shadowjumper drove the vargs and various other regional fauna into a frenzy. Vargs began attacking humans, whom they would normally avoid due to a vast difference in size. These are very nearly the first foes encountered when the hero steps out of the door. Again, they are less pack-oriented than normal wolves, and do not pose much of a threat even in this early stage.

- The internal name of the Varg is dsx_wolf_white_punk-ass — evidently the game designers don't go for the toy breeds.
- The Varg violates an evolutionary principle known as Bergmann's Rule, which premised on large animals having more efficient heat management, says that the cold-climate wolves should be the largest members of the group. The Varg is the smallest. Still, the rule has many exceptions and critics.
- Varg is the anglicised word of Old Norse, vargr, a wolf in Norse mythology.
