Xeria is a warrior maiden who fought for Azunai in the war against Zaramoth at the end of the First Age.

Biography[]

"In the year that Azunai began his rebellion against Zaramoth, called also the Unmaker, a war maiden from Lescanza came down from the northern hills to fight in his army. Her name was Xeria, and in battle she was both skilled and fortunate.
Tales of her were told in many lands—it was said that the tide of any battle in which she fought would soon turn in her favor, that her enemies fell before her as wheat before the scythe, and that she had the courage of warriors who had seen many more battles than she. And she was known by men as Xeria the Valiant.
Xeria fought by Azunai's side, and together they slaughtered the armies of Zaramoth, and his Seck fled before their fury like recreants."
The Deeds of Xeria book[1].

Seeing how her commander was slowly losing strength, Xeria gathered a small detachment and went to the Seck camp, hoping to kill their leaders. There, she secretly overheard the conversation of the strongest magicians of Zaramoth, who boasted of their accomplishments. One of them revealed that Vesulia was actually Tog the Killer, a sec in disguise.

Learning of this, Xeria told her men to leave the camp and warn Azunai. The angry warrior burst into the tent and entered into battle with all the Seck magicians at once. And when none of them were left alive, Xeria's heart stopped, and she died from her wounds.

With the death of the magicians, their spells also dissipated. Azunai saw Toga in his true form and slew him himself. Upon learning of Xeria's death, he ordered the construction of a temple in her honor to commemorate her deed[2].

As a deity[]

Thanks to her luck, courage and devotion, Xeria for many warriors became associated with a deity, akin to Azunai. The soldiers prayed to her before the coming battle and shouted her name as they rushed into battle. Many human strongholds and strongholds of the The Northern Reaches contain statues of her.
